Carlos' n Charlie's: Lunch, Dinner or a Crazy Night on the Town

There's never a dull moment at this Cancun party institution

Carlos' n Charlie’s is a Cancun party institution.

A visit to Charlie’s – as it's affectionately called by locals and employees – is guaranteed fun. The motto here is "Feel free." Even the décor is entertaining, with funny signs and memorabilia covering the walls and ceiling.

One of the best things about Carlos' n Charlie’s is that it’s not really a bar or a nightclub or a restaurant. It’s a bar and a nightclub and a restaurant.

Carlos' n Charlie’s has recently added three nights of live music. On Tuesdays, they feature a Brazilian show and music; on Fridays, tourists and locals dance the night away to live salsa music with a Cuban band; and on Saturdays, a live rock band plays.

Unlike a lot of places in Cancun, the party starts earlier at Charlie’s, around 10 p.m.

Even if you just stop into Charlie’s for lunch or dinner, plan on some silliness and surprises. The whole staff is there to entertain you.

Carlos' n Charlie’s offers a very large menu, with something for everyone, including appetizers (They’ll make the guac right at your table.); soups and salads; seafood; beef; pasta; burritos and tacos; barbecue; enchiladas; sandwiches; and burgers, too.

Prices are a bit expensive, but portions are generous.

All ages are welcome at Carlos' n Charlie’s, although it’s important to note that the legal drinking age in Mexico is 18.

Charlie’s offers an extensive drink menu, including those huge yard glasses that you can take home with you as a souvenir. Keep an eye out for the shot girls and the colorful potions they carry around in bottles. Ask them how much the shot will be before you take one.

If you plan on spending a long evening at Charlie’s drinking more than just beer, consider purchasing the open bar. On Carlos' n Charlie’s website, you can reserve a table and purchase open bar or their dinner package.

Charlie’s is very active on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to follow them. You just may see photos of yourself on their social networks after your visit!

Charlie’s used to be located near the huge Mexican flag at kilometer five of Boulevard Kukulcan in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, but it's now located in Plaza Forum by the Sea, in the heart of the Party Zone at kilometer 8.5.

Overall, it's a great place to have a bachelorette party or to celebrate a birthday. An evening on the town or even just a meal at Carlos' n Charlie’s won’t soon be forgotten.

Feel free!

x
