Hotel Riu Caribe resort in Cancun recently reopened following a multimillion dollar renovation. The hotel has undergone several stages of renovations over the past year, but the final stage of the $12 million refurbishment did not begin until after its neighboring property, the brand new Riu Palace Peninsula, had its grand opening in early May.
The seven-week remodeling project included upgrades and changes to guest rooms, common areas, restaurants, gardens, and to the pool area. The exterior even got a new look. It was painted white to match the stunning Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula located next door.
To brighten the 506 guest rooms, walls were painted white and all linens are now white as well. Blue accents were added to rooms to give them a burst of color. Rooms now have "flat screen televisions, 'laptop’ size electronic safes and wireless internet access, not to mention new furniture." Bathrooms were also remodeled in a new style that all Riu resorts will eventually have.
Two new lobby bars, Frida and Kahlo, were added, as well as an indoor theater for nightly entertainment and a new lounge, Calypso. One of the most notable features, added during the renovation, is the new swimming pool. The beachfront resort now has three pools in total.
This five-star resort is located on a lovely white-sand beach with calm water, and it's the perfect vacation spot for couples and families.
