If you're looking for adventure during your vacation in Cancun, spend a day at Xplor, an adventure eco park located just south of Playa del Carmen. Xplor has taken advantage of the tropical jungle and underground rivers that are unique to the Yucatan Peninsula. In fact, a lot of the park is underground.
However, you won't just spend time below the earth's surface, you will also spend time above it, flying through the air on zip line circuits. In addition, you'll spend time on solid ground, exploring the jungle in amphibious vehicles.

You may be thinking, can I take pictures of my adventures? The answer is not really, however, if you want photos of your day, have no fear: Xplor has taken care of that for you. Throughout the park, cameras take photos of visitors in action. The computerized cameras recognize you by a chip in your helmet. Not only can you stop and see the pictures during the day, but before you leave the park, you can decide if you would like to purchase any of them.
The best thing to do is start the day with the zip line circuit because you have to climb each tower, and it takes a lot of energy (make sure you eat a big breakfast). There are a total of 13 zip lines that make up the 2 circuits, some with water landings. There is also a water slide which feels great on a hot day. The zip line circuits will take a couple of hours, and afterwards you will be starving, so head to the snack bar for yummy (and healthy) cookies and smoothies. Try the "zip line;" it has peanut butter in it.

Now is a great time to head for the underground river. You'll wear a life vest and swim at your own pace in the cool freshwater for over 400 yards. The stalactites and stalagmites are breathtaking, but be very careful not to touch them. It takes thousands of years for just one to form.
You're already wet, so head for the underground river rafts. One or two person rafts are available. You'll navigate with two small paddles on your hands; it takes a couple of minutes to get the hang of it, but it's a lot of fun!
You're probably starving again, so head to the buffet restaurant for lunch. Even though the buffet is extensive, try not to overeat because your next activity is driving an amphibious vehicle through underground caves, jungle paths and even a waterfall.

Last stop is the Xplor gift shop, which is underground and carries some really cool merchandise. An unforgettable day at this adventurous, but safe eco park is sure to be a highlight of your vacation.
