Named this area's third-best Latin American Restaurant, by alternative weekly, The Pitch, this family-owned restaurant has quickly become a beloved destination. Fake palm trees flank the entrance and a colorful mural decorates one dining room wall where authentic Salvadoran cuisine comes with a very reasonable price tag. Less than $10 can buy a lunch that keeps you full until evening, includes a pupusa – a corn or flour tortilla stuffed with choice of meat/cheese/beans – and a pastelas, a corn flour dough stuffed with beef and vegetables and deep fried. Sample marinated K.C. Strip topped with sautéed green pepper and onion, with guacamole on the side, tamales made with yucca or Pollo Asado, which combines grilled chicken with rice, beans, salad and homemade tortillas. Add sangria or house-made horchata for a delicious and memorable meal. It would be easy to make a habit of eating here.
