Allow your taste buds to experience Japanese cuisine at its finest by dining at Amsterdam’s newest restaurant, Izakaya. Indulge in one of the many dishes from the Japanese kitchen and Robata grill. From Sakana (small dishes) and Osume (food prepared from the heart) to Hibachi fire bowl (a traditional Japanese small cooking hot plate designed to hold burning charcoal) and sushi, Izakaya presents numerous well-balanced and delectable dishes.

Bring a few friends or visit with family, as the dishes are made to share; the plates are “Asian tapas” so to speak. Watch the chefs as they prepare the food – the kitchen is open so guests can observe. Executive chef Hariprasad Shetty, previously head chef of “Nobu” on London’s Park Lane, designed the mouthwatering menu. In the summer months, or when the weather permits, be sure to unwind on the terrace.

Complement your meal with one of 300 wines from around the world or try Shochu, an ancient Japanese spirit. The cocktail menu is conjured up in collaboration with the “Fabulous Shaker Boys,” highly regarded cocktail caterers in the Netherlands.

Founder Yossi Eliyahoo poured his heart and soul into the restaurant. The combination of five Japanese elements in the design – earth, water, wind, fire and heaven – and the fact that the name “Izakaya” best translates from Japanese to “pub,” completes the dining experience, creating a simple and welcoming environment. All in all, with delightful dishes, refreshing cocktails and an authentic atmosphere, Izakaya is an ideal place for a marvelous meal out.

Izakaya is open seven days a week, from 6:00 pm until late. The restaurant is part of the Sir Albert boutique hotel in “De Pijp,” very close to the Albert Cuypmarkt and Museum Quarter.
