The Vegetarian Butcher is a delicatessen store and supermarket in one, where everything that you buy is pure and healthy. So no endless reading of labels at De Vegetarische Slager! All the products are made from local produce - from vegetables to dairy and from bread to fruit. But the most notable products that The Vegetarian Butcher has on stock are the wide range of vegetarian meat and fish.
The founder of The Vegetarian Butcher has a great philosophy. He is dedicated to redefining the food industry with a "Vegetarian Revolution." He and his team aim to show real meat lovers that they don’t miss a thing when they reduce their meat consumption.
The concept of The Vegetarian Butcher started with a first shop in the beautiful The Hague. Besides this flagship store, more than 1000 dealers offer their products for sale.
The Vegetarian Butcher is unique in Amsterdam. They offer a whole new generation of meat and fish substitutes that are great, with a bite, taste and texture that can hardly be distinguished from the real thing.
The products in the butcher shop include all sorts of fake meats. For example, the store sells a hamburger that food critics say is juicier than real burgers. It's very tasty on a hamburger bun or in the grill in the summer. The meatballs are award-winning, and you only have to heat them for 15 minutes. Amsterdam locals like to use them in their winter meal called stamppot, which is a dish with mashed potatoes and vegetables. You can also make breakfast with their smoked bacon strips.
Other products include fried minced meat, raw minced meat, roasting chunks, fish-free tuna, organic bitterballs, organic croquettes, organic shawarma and vegan chicken teriyaki.
The Vegetarian Butcher is located at the Rozengracht 217 in Amsterdam, very close to the Nine Streets and the cozy Jordaan. At the Rozengracht, many other new hot spots have opened their doors, like the pan Asian restaurant Chow and the second shop of concept store Hutspot. The Rozengracht is also great to shop for home and living items at one of the many furniture stores.
