About Amsterdam Shopping
If you love to shop, you’ve definitely come to the right city. Amsterdam has something for everyone. From cute boutiques and antique stores to top-name fashion brands and quirky shops, Amsterdam is home to a wide variety of stores suited to every budget. A few of the most popular shopping areas include the Negenstraatjes (Nine Little Streets), the Kalverstraat, the PC Hooftstraat and Haarlemmerdijk. Whether stores accept credit card or not varies. Therefore, it is best to carry cash just in case. Most stores are open from 9:00 or 10:00 to 18:00 with some exceptions. For instance, Thursday evening is “koopavond” or shopping evening, where most stores stay open late until 21:00. On Saturday, stores typically have shorter hours, while most are either closed or only open in the afternoon on Sunday and Monday. Make sure to plan your trip (and shopping itinerary) accordingly.
