In the previous home of Truckee Book & Bean, another shop has taken over the old brick building near the Truckee River. Dorinda's Chocolates offers hand-dipped, hand-crafted chocolates and sweets including signature chocolate-covered cherries and award-winning sea salt caramels.

The owner of this delectable Truckee shop is Dorinda Vance who has been creating chocolates since she was 12 years old. It's a family-run business, so Dorinda's sons are sure to learn a lot of her chocolate-making secrets as they help out behind the counter.

Her specialties include a seasonal Pumpkin Truffle, Peppermint Bark, Peanut Butter Bombs and "Dori-Os," which are sandwich cookies dipped in various flavors of chocolate. In addition, Dorinda's offers gluten-free chocolate for those with dietary restrictions. Her cafe also sells homemade hot chocolate, Alpen Sierra coffee, Tahoe Teas, sandwiches and soup. She even has free WiFi.
