The taste and smell of a pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw really can be enhanced by fresh mountain air–and your own skills. The Ritz-Carlton, located mid-mountain at the Northstar ski resort near Lake Tahoe, is not only offering an amazing location to enjoy exquisite meals, but it's also putting on a new six-week-long, themed cooking class series where you become the chef.

The classes will be offered Fridays from July 11 through August 15. Class titles include BBQ & Grilling, Summer Entertaining, Super Foods & Healthy Cooking, Date Night, Sweets & Treats and Farm-to-Table Northern California, where students will prepare a farm-to-table dinner inspired by cuisine from the "Golden State."
Each class will be held in the kitchens of The Ritz-Carlton in Truckee and taught by award-winning chefs. Your newly created dish can then be enjoyed on the new deck by The Backyard Bar & BBQ, with views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, or in Manzanita restaurant. The cost for each class is $109 or $500 for the entire series.

If you're interested in a little wine with your Cali-cuisine, the Summer Winemaker Dinner Series at the resort will pair vintages from California Wineries with food made with fresh, local ingredients prepared by Ritz chef Jeremy Grossman.
The meals will consist of five courses with wine pairings for $100 per person (plus tax and gratuity). The dinners will take place on select Thursday evenings and will feature wines from Rodney Strong Vineyard, Antinori Family Vineyards and Stag's Leap.
