Moe's Original BBQ Opens in Tahoe City

Southern food finds a place right by the water in Lake Tahoe

If you're craving some Southern soul fare while visiting Lake Tahoe, Moe's Original BBQ from Alabama has set up shop right on the lake's shore in Tahoe City.

Not only does this fill a lunch gap in the Tahoe City scene, but the restaurant is also located right on the shore of the lake, with access to the Tahoe City Marina and the Grove Street Pier. The restaurant even boasts a deck, where you can sit outside– with your dog.

The Tahoe City location, situated right behind the Tahoe City Marina, offers outdoor seating with great views of the lake and Common's Beach, indoor seating with views of the game on several TVs and a small bar with local and happy hour specials, as well as local beers on tap and a nice selection of wines.

The restaurant also plays a nice selection of music over the speakers, including reggae, classic rock and '80s favorites.

Moe's Original BBQ smokes all their own meats daily and flavors their pork and beef with homemade sauces, both of which are available at the counter. Along with their pulled pork and ribs, Moe's offers up to 10 daily sides, including lima beans, cornbread and their delectable sweet potato casserole.

The restaurant also features Southern soul food revival dishes like chicken, turkey, wings, ribs and even seafood like catfish and shrimp. The pulled pork platter is a favorite, served with lightly fried cornbread and various daily sides like green beans, collard greens, black beans, cole slaw or a selection of corn and potato salads.

Moe's also has a children's menu that includes chicken fingers, fish sandwiches and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Moe's also offers to-go family packs with pickles and sauces and also sells their smoked meats by the pound. If you have a boat, pull up to the dock and load up on a Moe's Boat Cooler for $56 for a Double Wide order or $66 for a Triple Wide Order. Give the restaurant a 24-hour notice for larger orders.

Moe's Original BBQ is right in the middle of Tahoe City, across the parking lot from Christy Hill and the Cobblestone Center shopping area. During both the winter and the summer, you can take your Moe's dish with you down to Common's Beach or down to the Grove Street Pier, and take in a view of the entire lake while you enjoy your lunch.
