There are several nightclubs in the South Lake Tahoe and Statelne area, but most of them are inside a casino. The literally underground (It’s located in a basement.) Xhale Bar & Lounge has broken the mold, and it's run by a young Tahoe local, Plus, it's one of the only bars that doesn't have a cover charge!
Xhale is the only hookah bar in the area, and it also features a full bar with favorites on tap, weeknight happy hours, live music and DJs, a dance floor, pool tables and a comfortable lounge for socializing.
Xhale is located near the CVS across from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in South Lake Tahoe, and it may be a bit hard to find at first. While they don’t open until 9 p.m. at night, they don’t close until nearly sunrise.
The decor is stylish, with white and silver accents, black light, lasers and mirrors.
For a full night out with a crowd, you can reserve a table at Xhale and order a hookah (around $20) to pass around. (For large groups, try the hookaheaven.) Xhale’s hookah bar serves Fantasia hookah tobacco and Fumari in Social Smoke Hookahs, with your choice of either a standard or ice tip hose.
They also offer a variety of flavors, including cherry, apple, mint, chocolate, licorice, cappuccino and watermelon. First-time customers can get $3 off a hookah purchase.

The bar features draft beers, favorites from local breweries and specialty shots like jungle juice, fireballs and more. Xhale offers nightly drink specials, and the bartenders can whip up any drink or cocktail you want.
Specialty cocktails are served on event nights and themed party nights.
Various live events are held at Xhale on both weekends and weeknights and include DJ-hosted reggae, hip hop, rap and Latino music. Each event offers dancing on the floor and a light show.
Other fun events include Karaoke and Unlimited Hookah for $5 on Thursdays, $10 Hookah Nights on Mondays, Mystery Nights on Wednesdays and Sunday Funday with $3 house drinks, $7 pitchers and $6 off a hookah.
Xhale's happy hour is from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and includes $1 house shots and $2 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
