The Lake Tahoe Dam at the entrance to the Truckee River regulates the top six feet of water in the Lake and is the center of Tahoe City. The dam is used to manage downstream flows on the Truckee River for recreation: rafting and fishing; as well as downstream agricultural interests. From just above the dam, you can watch fish, bears, birds and other wildlife in the bright blue water from Fanny Bridge. This bridge got its name from the people who lean out over the bride and show the street and the rest of Tahoe City their fannies.
The Dam is a nice place to view the lake, take a walk and teach children about fish habitats.
