North Tahoe Arts is in an historical building located on the shore of Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City where art from local artists, sculptors and metalworkers are shown. The Art Center continues the ten-year tradition of two galleries with exhibits that usually change monthly. Art is available for viewing or purchase.
The main gallery downstairs is a warm and inviting space with a rustic wood floor, covered panels and double hung windows that add to the ambience of this gallery. Artists of all mediums and styles have been invited to show and sell their work here. Contemporary art, plein air, sculpture, ceramics and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces have been enjoyed by the community and visitors from all over the world.
The Corison Loft is located upstairs. Here, too, artists of all mediums and styles show their work. This gallery is more versatile because it can be turned into a work space for the free Kids Art Saturday programs, for A Gathering of Art, and has been used for book signings, members' brunches, art classes, and more.
The Main gallery opens onto a terrace that overlooks Lake Tahoe and Commons Beach. Many of the opening receptions have had music on the terrace and the Center has used it for wine tastings, artist demonstrations, kids art programs, and even a cooking demonstration put on by a guest sustainable farmer, Dan Macon, owner of Flying Mule Farm in Auburn, as a part of the Art of Food exhibit.
