Just south of Lake Tahoe is probably one of the prettiest areas of the Sierra Nevada Mountains: the Mokelumne Wilderness and Hope Valley. These areas, just over the Carson Pass on Highway 88 are still overlooked by most of the area's visitors. If you want to get away for a day or two from the craziness of South Lake Tahoe, a 30-40 minute drive will take you to Sorenson's Resort where you can spend the night in a small, cozy cabin in the midst of an aspen tree grove. They even have a wood-fired sauna.

Sorensen's Resort provides a perfect base to explore the gorgeous scenery in and around Hope Valley. The cabins come in various sizes and some have kitchen facilities and are large enough to accommodate 4-6 people (several are pet-friendly too). Best of all, the property has a casual restaurant with fantastic food–the perfect end to a day of this area's wide variety of glorious outdoor activities.
