Although there has been a house on this property since 1740, the basic structure of the current house was built in 1763. George Washington stayed here in 1778; Aaron Burr met and married his wife here during the same period. In 1807, Elijah Rosegrant purchased the house; his son ordered major Gothic Revival alterations in 1847, including diamond-paned windows, high Tudor arches, and a gabled roof. Today, the house appears as it would have in 1890, and features a vast collection of period clothing and accessories. Numerous special events and programs through the year. NB Credit cards accepted for transactions of $10 or more.
