Cardinal Club is one of the coolest bars in town, and everyone deserves to hear about it. You may have even heard whispers of it by its nickname "Bar Kitchen." It has actually been around a couple of years and has steadily become more and more popular as word has spread. However, the locals would be more than happy to keep this place their little secret.
Here in this dark and cozy bar, you can sip on a marvelous cocktail made with liqueur that was created in house, such as the Elderflower Liqueur, all while listening to French jazz playing on the turntables. If you're not in the mood for cocktails, then try a glass of wine instead, or one of the many local beers they have on tap.
The owner is a wine expert, so even though the wine list may be short, each wine has been hand selected and is sure to delight. Chances are, you'll try a new wine here that you have never even heard of.

If you come hungry, Cardinal Club has plenty of tasty nibbles, including grilled asparagus and deviled eggs. Needless to say, Cardinal Club does not have your typical bar food, with choices like grilled polenta with blue cheese and baked figs wrapped in bacon.
If you need more than just a bite, enjoy a nice hanger steak while catching up with the bartender, who also happens to be one of the owners and will remember you the next time you come in. Many patrons find themselves craving the food here, especially the grilled romaine with grana padano, capers and the brick chicken sandwich.
One of the best parts of this bar is that if the bar is open, so is the kitchen. This means the kitchen stays open until 1 a.m. every night, and all the goodness from the drinks to the food is available until closing. This makes the Cardinal Club a great stop for those that had to work late, or those that are arriving on a late night flight but still want a decent meal.
The Cardinal Club is located on Burnside and 28th in a prevalent area of Portland. They are open every day from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m.
