One of the most iconic streets in Portland, Ore., is NW 23rd. It's full of hustle and bustle all day long. It's always crowded with shoppers and dinners. But just one block away, on the corner or NW 24th and Raleigh, is a magnificent retreat from it all: Kiva Tea Bar & Spa.

Upon entering, you immediately enjoy the slower, calmer vibe found inside the light and airy cafe. It’s here, as soon as you walk in, that you will check in for your spa treatment, which always comes with a complimentary cup of tea or a smoothie.
There are at least a hundred teas to choose from. Kiva, the owner, is a tea expert and spends time gathering teas from around the world. Consider ordering one of the teas infused with lavender that's homegrown in the chef’s garden, or try the popular “Tea for Her."

Once it's time for your treatment, you'll be taken into your candle-lit treatment room to change into a robe. Once you have changed and are ready, you'll meet your masseuse in the foot sanctuary. All treatments 90 minutes or more come with a complimentary aromatic Himalayan saltwater bath in the sanctuary.
As you sit relaxing in a plush chair, you'll immediately begin to relax as your feet soak in a warm foot bath. Your masseuse will wash, exfoliate and massage your feet.
After your feet are done being properly attended to, it's back to the treatment room, where your masseuse will go over your treatment and allow you a few moments to get comfortable. What comes next is an ultimate massage, facial or body treatment.
Not sure what kind of massage to get? Try one of Kiva’s unique spa therapies like the Rain Drop Body Treatment, a powerful healing treatment focused on the spine; it's designed to release blockages and align energy throughout the body.
Therapeutic essential oils and massage are applied to points on the feet that reflect to corresponding points on the spine and back. The oils are then drizzled slowly onto the back and up onthe spine like drops of rain. Precise massage technique is used to enhance the absorption of the healing oils. Hot stone and warm compresses further help with the deep therapeutic effect.
This is a perfect way to balance and detoxify the body from ailments such as back pain, upper respiratory infections, digestive complaints, fatigue, mental strain and even emotional strain.
In the mood for a facial, instead? Try the Raw Glow Facial. This raw food facial has all the same benefits as eating raw foods with real food and vitamins. The facial includes luscious masks, serums, creams and an optional hot oil scalp massage.
After indulging in an hour or two at Kiva Tea Bar & Spa, you'll be rested and restored.
