The Pearl District in Portland, Ore., has steadily grown in popularity for years and years now. But there's been a definite lack of hotels within the area, especially one that could also comfortably accommodate families. Thankfully, Marriott recently opened a brand new Residence Inn here.
This hotel is considered to be the Pearl District's first hotel, and it's located on the corner of Northwest Ninth Avenue and Northrup Street, near Union Station.

The Pearl District Marriott Residence Inn is a six-story, 223-guestroom extended stay hotel. They offer spacious and modern studios, one- and two-bedroom suites with separate living and sleeping areas.
Each suite features a fully stocked kitchen to prepare home-cooked meals in, including a full-size refrigerator. They even provide complimentary grocery delivery service to fill your refrigerator!
What other in-room features will guests enjoy? Each room has cable with HBO, and the bathrooms feature Paul Mitchell hair products.
The layout of the building is in a “U” shape open to the south, with a ground-level courtyard and passenger loading area in the courtyard. Public spaces on the ground floor include the lobby. The use of wood in the Residence Inn’s lobby floor and behind the reception desk alludes to the region’s logging history.
There's a decent-size lounge that doubles as a breakfast area, where a free hot breakfast is served every morning. During the week during the evenings, there's an evening social hour with food and drinks.

This hotel has many amenities, and you will enjoy perks including free Internet access for up to three devices – at your disposal throughout the hotel – and a 24-hour market.
The modern fitness center includes an indoor pool. The beautiful patio features a fire pit. Bicyclists will especially enjoy the covered bike storage.
In keeping with Portland’s desire to be a greener city, this hotel was built with energy conservation measures like a green roof, high-efficiency water fixtures and day lighting.
When you book, try to get a room fairly close to the elevators. Avoid rooms at the back of the property if you're a light sleeper. Be sure to remember to get your Marriott rewards too, because Residence Inn is one of their properties.
If you're bringing the kids, be sure to check out nearby Fields Park, a beautiful park with a cool playground. Or you and your children can go out for a bite to eat at Bridgeport Brewery.
