As of June 2013, Carte Blanche is back in Portland, OR, (after closing in October of 2012) and it's better than ever. After launching a Kickstarter campaign and working hard for many months, the owner is back crafting her unique, wacky food in the exact same location as before over in the Hawthorne district.

Unlike simple food often found at a food cart, at Carte Blanche you will find unbelievable original creations of sandwiches, bowls, salads, fried snacks and desserts. Whenever possible, they use ingredients that are organic, seasonal and local. Carte Blanche has a rotating menu that changes every three weeks. Jessie, the owner and chef, never serves simple food, but instead focuses on making wild food unlike anyone else.
Carte Blanche follows no theme when it comes to their menu. Instead, they create whatever they want, whenever they like - which is why at Carte Blanche, you can find a curry called I Have a Lot of Feelings, which is a green coconut curry made from scratch with Thai sweet pork, kale, roasted squash, corn, seasonal vegetables, crispy shallots, fried garlic, Thai herbs, lime, radish and sesame.
They offer options for vegetarians, vegans, omnivores, children, musicians and pets. Carte Blanche opens each day at noon and stays open until 8 p.m., or until they've sold out for the day. The combinations that Jessie continues to create seem to be endless. Check out their most recent menu before you visit.
