The Eastside Lodge made our list for multiple reason, but mostly it's killer location. The lodge is in the heart of lower East Burnside where you will find tons of great restaurants and bars. The Edgefield over and Wood Village made our list because of their long list of amenities including free parking, a spa, a soaking pool, bars, restaurants, live music and more. No matter which hotel you try from our list you are sure to save money.


With a stay at Shilo Inn Rose Garden at the Portland Convention Center in Portland, you'll be minutes from Oregon State Hospital Portland and Rose Quarter. This hotel is within close proximity of Lloyd Center and Holladay Park. It's also close to the Max making getting around town easy. Most rooms are large, have double sinks and all rooms have a mini fridge, and a microwave. The location is great, only 2 minutes from the airport and located in the center of the business district, and places you within reach of great restaurants and top attractions. Downtown Portland is just fifteen minutes away. There is a restaurant on site with good bar food and reasonable prices. Nightly rates start around $50 a night.

The Quality Inn and Suites is located in three buildings that used to be a very happening place in the 1970's called The Pink Flamingo. The hotel has undergone a complete renovation and they continue to make ongoing improvements. Quality Inn and Suites Airport Convention Center location has pillow top mattresses, granite showers, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and free breakfast and parking. It's just a five minute walk to the Max and they have a 24 hour shuttle to the airport. When booking a room keep in mind that all the rooms are exterior rooms and there is no elevator.

McMenamins Edgefield is home to a hotel, spa, mulitiple restaurants and bars, theater, and a winery. The grounds are absolutely beautiful including a water tower, fire pit area, vegetable garden, 3 par golf course, and the grape fields. The rooms here are simple without TVs or telephones. Some rooms have private baths, but the majority are shared baths. All guests have access to the heated soaking pool at Ruby's Spa. Instead of sitting around in a hotel room watching TV you will find yourself romancing your loved one with wine tasting in the winery while listening to live music or unwinding over in the heated soaking pool.

Inn at the Convention Center was built in 1964 and remodeled in 1996. It's located just off I-5 at exit 302A and I-84 at Lloyd Boulevard. Adjacent to the MAX light rail, with free transportation to and from downtown and a minimum charge from Portland International Airport. It is directly across the street from the Oregon Convention Center. Their rooms have free high speed wireless internet, free parking and coffee makers. For a fee your pet may stay here too. Usually you can get a room here starting around $50 a night. Be sure to request a room away from the Max line.

The Kennedy School is a fun place to stay and a unique experience that can only be had at a McMenamins property. They have 57 rooms available. 22 of the rooms are brand new and have private bathrooms in the English Wing. All stays here include complimentary coffee each morning, and admission to the heated soaking pool and theater. Pets are still allowed to stay at the hotel, but not in any of the new rooms in the English Wing. Like all McMenamins hotels, the Kennedy School is quirky, fun, and none of the rooms have a TV. There are restaurants and bars spread throughout the property.

The Palms Motel has a kitschy, 60's look, and a fun neon sign your sure to remember. You may have even seen this hotel when it was feature on the popular TV show Grimm. Although built in 1980 the motel was remodeled in 2004 and with the addition of a TriMet Max station it is now convient to get around town from here. Each room comes with a TV with HBO and Max, a mini fridge and microwave. Some rooms even come with a jacuzzi tub and some rooms allow smoking. They have roll out beds available if needed. The Inn at Northrup Station has the distinction of being the only hotel within easy walking distance of Portland's Nob Hill neighborhood. Built in 1970 as a standard, 70 room motor lodge, it was transformed into what is probably the most colorful hotel in Portland. Bright furniture, walls and ceilings are found throughout both the common areas and guest rooms. A staff member described the decor as a cross between The Jetsons and Alice in Wonderland. The hotel has Keurigs in the rooms and provide k-cups daily. The hotel's location offers easy access to trendy shopping and dining on NW 21st and 23rd avenues.
