The White Owl Social Club is a fantastic bar with a killer patio in east Portland. White Owl Social Club does offer food. They have a vegan/vegetarian/omnivore restaurant in addtion to being a bar and music venue. Vegans will appreciate the food offerings here. They have a DJ several nights a week and on a nice day their patio can't be beat. Sometimes there's a fire going out there too and other times the outdoor area tuns into a night club. The White Owl Social Club is for ages 21 and up only. They have an excellent happy hour every day from 3 - 6 PM with $4 drafts, $6 cocktails, and $5 food specials.
The Sapphire Hotel is a cocktail lounge in a former hotel lobby with a shady past. They serve small plates and craft cocktails. The atmosphere here is killer and perfect for a date night. The cocktails are the best part about this lounge. Their most popular drink is actually named "The Most Popular Drink" and consists of vodka, lime, coconut, orgeat, shirley temple soda and pop rocks. Not only are the bartenders here expert mixologists they sometimes put on quite the show while making cocktails which is super fun to watch. The food here is good too. They offer selections like charcuterie plates and mussels and clams.
Although open to everyone, Crush is undoubtedly a predominately gay bar. Located in Southeast Portland, the establishment is divided into two sections: a comfortable, more intimate main bar and a dance floor/dining room. DJs spin an energetic mix of tunes that keep patrons dancing the night away under the bar's giant disco ball. The Rum Club has an extensive collection, but their area of expertise is higher end or new and odd drinks. You can even enjoy a rum flight here.
