How to Have Tons of Fun in Portland before Bedtime



Portland, Oregon has lots of options when it trying to find early entertainment. Most bars and restaurants throughout Portland offer an early happy hour making it easy to have a good time out without having to stay out until all hours of the night. Not only are there plenty of happy hours to choose from there are karaoke bars, live music options, and billiard places that all open early has well. We at 10Best have narrowed down the options and picked out 10 of the best places to hang out early in Portland. We've included a variety of options in hopes that you will find a place you will love. Topping on our list is Topgolf, pun intended. Here you can hit some golf balls and hang out with friends in a bar like atmosphere. Tapalaya is a fun early happy hour with live music, tapas, and $3 hurricanes. Casa Del Matador is an awesome Tex-Mex bar with good happy hour deals and bottomless chips and salsa. Voicebox made our list, because they offer an incredible karaoke experience starting earlier in the day. Landmark Saloon is a fun place to hang out and they have corn-hole outside until 8  PM. No matter which place you decide to head to one thing is for sure you will have a great time.

Uptown Billiards Club


Uptown Billiards Club is is not your average pool hall! It is an upscale restaurant, bar, and pool hall. They serve food at the pool tables, in the bar and the restaurant. Come hungry, because they offer fabulous 5 course meals for just $36 using seasonal and local ingredients. There are no reservations needed for a table. Pool tables run $10 an hour during the week and $12 an hour on the weekends. They offer a happy hour from 4-6:30 PM. At night the dining room turns into a game room offering activities like Poker tables, Backgammon or Trivial Pursuit.

Doug Fir Lounge

Located below the Doug Fir Restaurant, the Doug Fir Lounge is a hip live music spot that's got a dedicated following who show up to listen to the mix of regional and national musicians booked to play every night of the week. An outstanding food and cocktail menu is available, compliments of the Doug Fir Restaurant and Bar. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night food. Although shows have different time, generally doors open at 8pm, with shows beginning at 9pm; call or check their website for specific dates, times and shows. Doug Fir was listed as one of the Top 40 music venues in American by Paste Magazine. Doug Fir Lounge offers free wifi.

Casa Del Matador


Casa Del Matador is a 21 and over Tex-Mex restaurant and bar in downtown Portland that's open from lunch until 2 AM. They serve fresh, gourmet Tex-Mex cuisine like tacos, burritos, nachos, and savory steaks and extra large margaritas. The atmosphere and decor is sensational and the prices are cheap for Portland. They have three plasma T.V.'s with sports games on. They offer $5 appetizers during happy hour, like Texas Size Nachos, Tacos, Habanero or Garlic Prawns, Tex-Mex Spring Rolls, Quesadillas, and Spicy Fried Calamari. Happy Hour is every day from 4pm to 6pm and again from 10pm to 1am.

If you love country music, Bluegrass or Texas rock you are going to love the LandMark Saloon. Here they have everything a country bar should: a massive bar, quality libations like cold beer and signature cocktails served in mason jars, live honky tonk music, a small dance floor for two stepping and a killer outdoor area. Out back you can sit around a fire or play a round of corn hole. Their spacious patio includes a covered seating are and another bar. They even have decent bar food, if you like hotdogs. Unlike many bars in the area Landmark Saloon is open everyday of the week and many nights there is no cover charge!

Southeast Portland


Double Barrel Tavern is your all American tavern with pool tables, pinball games, darts, and a great back patio. With a rich wood decor, a mix of good music including punk, country and rock, and friendly bartenders chances are this will become one of your new favorite places. They make great burgers and even better seafood sandwiches not to mention the fab onion rings, fried pickles, and to die for pecan pie. They have a decent variety of craft beers on tap and all of their cocktails are $8 or less. Happy hour is daily from 2 to 7 PM with a large food selection for just $5.

Recommended for Early Entertainment because: Double Barrel Tavern has a great atmosphere with games and it's affordable.

Tapalaya


Tapalaya is the worlds first tapas (small-plates) restaurant serving Cajun/Creole cuisine and is open every day for lunch and dinner starting at 11:30 AM. Everything on Tapalaya's menu is made from scratch, with love. The plates of food are small (appetizer or side items size) and perfect for sharing and pairing. Menu items highlight New Orleans favorites: Jambalaya, Collard Greens, N'awlins BBQ Shrimp, Corn Bread and Po'Boys (just to name a few). They also have vegetarian and vegan items. River Pig Saloon should be everyone's go to bar in downtown Portland, Oregon. This trendy spot is unlike any other in Portland. They've got lots of bourbons and whiskeys to go along with the local beers they carry on tap. They food is mainly fried, but man is it good, like their fried chicken, fry bread tacos, and french fries. Happy Hour is Monday - Friday from 3-6 PM with food starting at $2 and drinks starting at $2.75. They always have on the game and on Sundays they have killer Bloody Mary's. Topgolf out in Hillsboro is a brand new massive golf entertainment complex with a full service restaurant and bar. Here you can enjoy climate controlled hitting bays and play various competitive games. Even on a cold rainy day in Portland you will stay warm and dry. Topgolf uses advance technology to track the accuracy and distance or each players' shots. Kids are allowed and they have a kids menu and special events for kids. They have classes available for those that want to learn to golf. Topgolf is just as fun for non golfers as it is for experienced golfers.
