Philadelphia's Fishtown section is the proud landing spot of another great restaurant. This restaurant, however, is proving to be something different altogether.
That's because Kensington Quarters is not just a great place to eat: it's also a pretty lively bar, with patrons enjoying brews, beverages, buddies and banter late into the night most every night the place is open. In addition, this hot new spot is also a butcher shop, and it even holds classes to educate anyone who's interested in getting, cutting, seasoning and preparing the perfect cut of meat.

Created by Michael and Jeniphur Pasquarello of Pasquarello Restaurant Group, this establishment joins their other ventures, including Bufad Pizza, Prohibition Taproom and Cafe Lift, although this particular place sets a standard all its own.
Come here to take in the surrounds, designed to mimic that of an actual butcher shop. Dine in their 80-seat dining area with friends, family, coworkers or that special someone. Gaze into the centerpiece of the restaurant – their large open kitchen, complete with visible ovens and a wood-burning grill. Don't miss the opportunity to check out the meat locker in this kitchen, either.
This spot's quite an attraction, especially for a restaurant.
Sit down and notice such savory choices as small plate starters like pork and liver terrine and mattock mushroom in a puffed pastry. Salads, starches and grains whet the appetite further, and make room for the entrees which truly take center stage.
Pork shoulder with mustard greens anyone? Chicken roulade with grits, broccoli and mushrooms? How about smoked sausage with parsnips, cabbage and apple butter mustard? With choices like these, it's truly hard to pick a favorite.

Once the appetizers, salads and main course have done their show-stopping performances, investigate the dessert options, which do not disappoint either.
A smoked chocolate cream puff with ganache and whiskey caramel stands out, alongside a pear and lavender tart with chocolate almond cookie. If that's not tempting enough, try the pumpkin cake with oat streusel and honey and cranberry sorbet. Simply divine choices, all of them.
Kensington Quarters promises to deliver to Philadelphia a unique venue that can wear many hats. Primarily a restaurant, it may also become the city's favorite butcher shop. The classroom may entice some to learn about the food they love and come experiment with delicious cuts of meat. Others may love it for the homey bar scene, and choose to meet up with friends after work or on weekends.
Whatever the reason, this place is a cut above ordinary, and it certainly shows.
