The opening of U-Bahn to the city of Philadelphia's nightlife scene promises to add an edgy player to the already crowded playing field.
The bar, located at 1320 Chestnut Street in the Midtown Village section, is underneath Bru Craft and Wurst. Featuring decor with a funky, underground, subway-infused vibe, this place promised to be the ticket to an interesting night out in the city.
U-Bahn offers up live music and spotlights local talent. The stage here will be occupied more frequently as time goes on, but it will always aim to showcase bands and performers that get the crowds going and provide a source of positive energy for those who settle into their seats for the ride.

If you arrive here hungry, rest assured you can also grab snacks. These morsels are designed to mimic the street food scene and provide sustenance, while still being a tad out of the ordinary.
Housemade pickles, tried-and-true bar snacks, cheese boards from Valley Shepherd Farms and take-offs on Philly sandwich faves like the popular hoagie dip are just a few examples of fare you'll find in-house.
It's certainly not an ordinary establishment, but that makes it all the more interesting to spend time here before heading back out into the city.
Beer aficionados who make a stop here will appreciate the variety of brews available at U-Bahn. Eighteen taps are dedicated to Pennsylvania beers alone. Other beverages on tap include Yards Root Beer and several cocktails.
The rest of their drink inventory will focus on Pennsylvania-based wines, rye whiskeys and other items sourced from local ingredients and alcohols. Fortunately, this place takes pride in its own state's products, while bringing in some outside influence. So far, it seems to be a winning combination.

In addition to live music, this gritty and fun venue also houses vintage arcade games. It'll bring you back, while making you feel like you're on the cutting edge of what's trendy and cool in this city.
It's underground, yet it's nothing if not up and coming and at the top of its game. It's local, while feeling like an escape of sorts. It also feels like it's going places, yet it's always right here in the neighborhood, proud to be a part of things.
If you choose to get your ticket and venture in for a ride, be sure to look around and take in the decor, the lighting, the colors and the generally funky atmosphere, as this is one place you'll want to stop at again and again.
