Pantanos de Villa is the local name for the only natural protected area left in Lima: an ecological park just 30 minutes from downtown Lima. In these swamps, or humedales (wetlands) you can take part of walking tours, hike on the designated areas, and enjoy some educational activities, like watching videos or taking a guided boat trip. The area covers some 2000 hectares of land, that 150 resident bird species call home, while many more migratory species arrive here between September and March, escaping from the Northern Hemisphere winter. A very recommended visit for those traveling with kids, since this tour combines fun, nature and learning.
