Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore’s first integrated resort located on Sentosa Island, will be celebrating its official Grand Opening in December 2012.
RWS first opened its doors to the public in January 2010 with four hotels (including Hard Rock Hotel and Hotel Michael), several dining and shopping options and the Resorts World Convention Centre, which features the region’s largest column-free ballroom.

The last two years have been a busy time, with over 30 million visitors and the staggered openings of several more hotels, restaurants and world-class attractions breaking new boundaries in Singapore. As they gear up for a weekend of celebrating, we look back at the some of the highlights that have led to this point.

February 2010 saw the historical opening of the Resorts World Casino, Singapore’s first casino after the nation lifted its 40-year ban on gaming. The following month, Universal Studios, the region’s only Universal Studios theme park, debuted with the biggest collection of DreamWorks Animation attractions and the world’s tallest dueling rollercoasters.

April 2011 was an exciting month for Singapore’s gastronomes as the world’s most decorated Michelin-starred chef, Joel Robuchon, launched his two restaurants – L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon and Joel Robuchon Restaurant. Robuchon was joined by fellow celebrity chefs Kunio Tokuoka, with his self-named restaurant, Susur Lee with Chinois and Scott Webster with Osia.

Early 2012 saw the opening of more hotels – including Equarius Hotel and Beach Villas, and the Tree Top Lofts, while spa-goers celebrated the arrival of Singapore’s largest luxury spa – ESPA at RWS – in July of 2012. The final piece of the puzzle slotted into place on 22nd November, with the opening of Marine Life Park, home to the world’s largest aquarium.
With construction complete, it’s time to concentrate on what those folk at RWS do best – having fun!
