French Chef Emmanuel Hodencq had a one-star from Michelin for 12 years, no small feat when only 594 of 4289 reviewed restaurants ranked one or more stars. His celebrated restaurant in Clermont-Ferrand, the home of Michelin in France, was the culmination of 37 years of experience.
When Greenville restaurateur Rick Erwin wanted to open a deli and market in downtown, he struck gold. Chef Emmanuel Hodencq had relocated from Michelin's French headquarters to its US Headquarters - Greenville - due to having a French friend who worked at Michelin Greenville. It was a match made in heaven. The menus at Rick's Deli and Market — Photo courtesy of Libby McMillan
Rick's Deli and Market has an American menu but with a French twist. Hodncq loves pastries and so patrons can enjoy eclairs, financiers, chocolate mousse cakes, fruit tarts, and the French specialty macaroons. Savory selections keep the lunch crowd happy: everything from salads and cheese plates to specialty pasta.
The menu gets even more interesting at dinner, when rich flavor profiles take center stage. Expect offerings like homemade gravlax with lobster gravy, roasted asparagus and all sorts of delicious appetizers and entrees. The menu will reflect the seasons, as Hodencq seeks superior and/or fresh ingredients. Community Tables — Photo courtesy of Libby McMillan
