Barefoot Landing, a favorite destination in Myrtle Beach, is celebrating its 25th anniversary, but even longtime visitors have lots of new shops to explore now.
The popular North Myrtle Beach entertainment, shopping and dining complex - which is home to such top attractions as the Alabama Theater and the House of Blues - is undergoing a bit of a makeover to its retail selection this summer. Ten new stores have been added to the more than 100 outlets on the 25-acre property, which also is getting a cosmetic facelift by new ownership. Several of the new stores feature a tropical theme, such as Cariloha, which specializes in bamboo items; Bou’Tiki, which sells island-style jewelry and accessories; Beach’s Best Candles & Glass; and Fashion Island.
Other stores include apparel and accessories store Elegantz'; Foxworthy, for fans of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour; Kryptonite Character store; M.R. Ducks conservation outlet; Man Cave, for decorating the ideal male retreat; RC World & Toyz for the kids; and South Carolina Jewelers. A cafe and refreshment shop called Fresh Smoothies and Grill completes the new lineup, giving Barefoot Landing a total of 16 restaurants to choose from.
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Barefoot Landing is celebrating all summer with free firework shows on Monday nights, a strolling boardwalk parade on Wednesday evenings and nightly street performers, including magicians, stilt-walkers, mimes and more.
