Taking the family to the movies can be expensive, and who wants to spend their Myrtle Beach vacation cooped up in a theater anyway? Market Common has the cure for both issues with its Movies Under The Stars program, held at neighboring Valor Park during the warmer months. On Wednesday nights at 9 p.m., families flood the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to watch PG-rated classics in the great outdoors.

For those looking for the full movie experience, Canipes Chocolates & Candies serves up sweet treats and salted popcorn, as well as drinks to wash them down. Tommy Bahama's Restaurant & Bar also serves up some adult beverages for those looking for a romantic but cheap date night.

Visitors can make a full day of dining, shopping and entertainment at Market Common before taking in a late-night flick. Shop at some of the top national retailers in the world, have a nice dinner at some of the nicest restaurants in town or catch a new release in the air-conditioning at the indoor movie complex.

Market Common's schedule for the month of August features the kids' cult classic The Goonies on Aug. 1; the modern take on Peter Pan, Hook, on Aug. 8; Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom on Aug. 15; Beetlejuice on Aug. 22; and the 1970s hit based on the 1950s craze Grease on Aug. 29.

The fall schedule is expected to be announced in the near future. Check listings on the Market Common website for more information.
