Renowned Barcelona steakhouse El Foro has expanded its menu and opened itself up to a whole new clientele. Known for its delicious bife de chorizos, vacios and terneras – all wonderfully cooked (or undercooked) to perfection – the iconic meat factory has added new additions to its existing lineup.
Alongside brunch, which it included several years ago, the restaurant now has a variety of pastas and seafood, including shrimp, octopus, mussels and fresh fish to accompany the tasty cuts of beef.
Situated in the trendy Born Neighborhood, El Foro sits on the edge of Park Ciutadella and is surrounded by bars, restaurants, clubs and an overall lively atmosphere.
This three-story restaurant has a fabulous outdoor patio, overlooking the street, yet quiet enough where one can enjoy a meal without being overtaken by the sound of cars.

If you go during the weekday, El Foro boasts a great menu del dia ("mid-day menu") from between 10-15 euros, including an entree, main dish and dessert, as well as a glass of wine or beer and a water. There are usually great options for the main, including some of the Argentinean cuts and other slices of beef like sirloin and T-bone, amongst others.
With the addition of the pasta and seafood dishes, El Foro has also added a Mediterranean flare to the menu, including hummus, cucumber salad and halloumi cheese.
It's a fabulous place to dine and hosts events, as they have a private room off to the side, which can seat about 15 people. The basement is also a bit of a hidden gem in that they don't advertise it for daily meals, yet they're completely open to using it for larger groups and special events. There's also a small stage in case someone wants to host a larger party.
Having been around for years, El Foro has made its mark on the city, and especially in Ciutat Vella, as one of Barcelona's best quality meat restaurants. The staff is knowledgable, attentive and eager to create a memorable experience for all who walk through its doors.
If you eat dinner there, once you're finished, head to one of the clubs or bars right around the corner. The Mix and Magic are both excellent options, as well as any place on Passeig Del Born.
