Barcelona's Blueproject Foundation will be showcasing a one-of-a-kind event. Beginning in late November and lasting through February 2015, Chen Zhen – one of the leading contemporary Chinese artists of today – will feature his first solo exhibit in Spain.
The works, titled In-Between, consist of five paintings reflecting on the balance of Chen's inner life and his relationship with Western culture, as well as the fragility of an individual's inner world. Through these five installations, as well as a series of drawings and sketches, the artist represents his career, while offering a glimpse into his journey through some of his most pressing issues and deepest questions.

Chen Zhen is one of the leading figures of contemporary art in China. Since the early 1980s, he's been one of the pioneers of the generation that followed China’s Cultural Revolution and a precursor to today’s interest in the West for Chinese art.
The exhibit will take place at Blueproject, which is on Calle Princessa in the Born neighborhood. The opening is on Friday, Nov. 28, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and the exhibit will be on display through February 2015. During the inauguration, there will be speakers from the Blueproject Foundation, including Vanessa Salvi and Aurelien le Genissel.
The Blueproject Foundation is a multidisciplinary arts center and creator of quality content, which is aimed primarily at offering a respectful and in-depth vision of modern and contemporary artistic creations.
With over 500 square meters, spread over two floors, the building is an ideal space to present exhibits from private collections. It's a wonderful venue that brings like-minded people together from within Barcelona and around the world.
It's also excellently situated in the lively Born neighborhood. So after the opening, you can grab a bite to eat on Passeig Del Born or right around the corner at Blueproject Cafe or Llamber, two delicious restaurants.
If you're in the mood to do some shopping, there are some beautifully charming boutique shops off of Passeig Del Born and around the small side streets.

This is an avant-garde event – the first of its kind in Spain – and a culturally educational exhibit for locals, expats and visitors alike. Be sure to get tickets in advance, as it's filling up quickly. However, if you won't be in town during the inauguration, not to worry. This exhibit runs into the new year.
