Located just off of Passeig Del Born on one of the coolest walkways in the Old City, Llamber Tavern is one of Barcelona's hippest and chicest new bar/restaurants. Less than a year old, this classy yet rustic eatery has an extensive wine list, both by the glass and by the bottle. And they also serve innovative, delicious food.
A particularly unique option on the menu is the salad. If you didn't think salad could be exciting, let Llamber prove you wrong. Somewhat resembling a painting palate, the mix of fruits and vegetables put together in exceptional shapes provides for a beautiful display of color, and it's absolutely mouth watering. A few other notable items include beef carpaccio, hot steak and shrimp sticks.
The restaurant itself is charming, set in a large, loft-style open space with exposed brick. It's dimly lit and divided into a few different spaces, with the front of the restaurant having more high-tops than the back. It might look less rustic than elegant from the outside, with the scribbling on the windows. But it's fancier than it appears, while still remaining unassuming.

The Born is one of the Old City's liveliest places to hang out during the day, and especially in the evenings. Surrounded by various bars, clubs and restaurants, it's a great place to spend the night and go for a cocktail or two, before or after dinner.
On the same street as Llamber, there are three other very hip restaurants, all of which are open until late and excellent for having a night cap. If you're in the mood to club, Magic isn't far away. On Calle Comerc, Mix is a Born favorite with cheesy music and overpriced (yet very tasty) cocktails. Mix makes the perfect place to meet people if you're in the mood.
But one of the best things about Llamber is their incredible wine-by-the-glass list. Most restaurants in Barcelona have around three to five options for wines by the glass. Llamber has 30 high-quality, excellent wines, all of which are selected by the owners themselves; the owners play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.
If you're looking for a romantic evening out, or a nice night with friends in one of the city's hippest neighborhoods, then Llamber is an excellent option. Be sure to reserve in advance as they're always full, especially on weekends.
