Located beside Aranjuez's Royal Palace (El Palacio Real de Aranjuez) and over the small canal, the beautiful Aranjuez Gardens contain numerous classical inspired statues, fountains, seasonal flowers, manicured lawns and footpaths. However, they are actually divided into four gardens: the Prince's Garden, which contains a mini-palace and Spain's royal museum of pleasure barges; the Island Garden, contained on a man-made island and closest to the palace; the Parterre Garden, containing busts of Roman emperors; and the Isabel II Garden, the 19th century addition. Aranjuez's royal gardens are open to the public year-round and cost nothing to enter. Like many gardens though, they are at their most beautiful in the spring and summer.
