With the winter firmly behind us, Madrid’s good weather is now in abundance with clear blue skies and warm sunshine. Locals and visitors alike are flocking to the parks and the city’s terraces to enjoy the open air and a more social season. One of the finest places to capitalize on Madrid’s sunny days, however, is downtown at the Hotel Ritz Madrid – in the garden and preferably with a cocktail in hand.

The hotel itself is perched between the Prado Museum and the Monument to Spain’s Fallen Heroes. The building is grand and historic, the décor downright elegant. Although the lobby and bar have its advantages, head out to a favorite spot – the garden – to dine, drink or have afternoon tea.
Hands down, the Hotel Ritz Madrid has one of the best afternoon tea spreads outside of London. The tea is ample and formal, like its surroundings, with a tiered silver tray loaded with delicacies. If hot tea doesn't appeal though, try the iced tea.
In spring and summer, the terrace is open for lunch from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, afternoon tea from 4:30 to 7:30 pm and dinner from 8:30 to 11:30 pm. Otherwise, drinks and snacks are available.
