Though the upscale Isabela Gourmet Market opened in April 2012, it did so without its crowning glory: literally, the top floor restaurant to be imagined by Joaquín Felipe, the former chef at two of Madrid’s premier luxury hotels, Urban and Villarreal. But admirers of Chef Felipe’s work don’t have to wait any longer. The soup’s on!
Restaurante Joaquín Felipe by Isabela Gourmet serves high quality and imaginative contemporary Spanish food with a few cosmopolitan touches. (In fact, the wild mushroom risotto and sirloin steak deserve special mention.) In addition to the a la carte menu, there are four tasting menus available that range in price from 25 euros to 60 euros per person and include wine, including the vegetarian tasting menu for 30 euros.
In the restaurant’s modern décor, the color white predominates with only the hardwood floors, the metal legs of the chairs and a few blue wall panels breaking the color’s imperative. The effect isn't sterile like it could have been; it instead comes off as a bit playful.
Restaurante Joaquín Felipe by Isabela Gourmet is located on the top floor of the Isabela Gourmet Market and is open for lunch and dinner every day. If you remember, make a reservation in advance.
