No matter what your sexual orientation is, Madrid’s Gay Pride festivities (known as Orgullo Gay in Spanish) are without a doubt the hottest dates on the annual calendar. A combination of Madrid’s love to party, the open celebration of sexuality, official sanction and warm summer weather ensure that everyone is welcome and pretty much anything goes.

Amidst a sea of pride flags, Gay Pride centers on Madrid’s gay neighborhood, Chueca, with several days of big concerts, open air bars, attractions like the high-heels race and cabaret gala, and parties in all the neighborhood’s nightclubs, bars, public squares and streets.

While the Gay Pride festivities stretch from June 27 to July 1 and attract more than two million people, the biggest party will be the night of Saturday, June 30 after the massive Gay Pride parade. Celebrating the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and legal same-sex marriage (it’s legal in Spain), the parade will feature lots of colorful floats, costumes and music. Starting at the Puerta de Alcalá at 6 pm, the parade will end in Plaza de España, where the main concerts of the night will be, scheduled until 5:30 am.

Otherwise, head to Chueca’s hottest bars and nightclubs like Escape, Why Not, Hot, Liquid and Delirio, or join the revelry in the streets. It will be crazy!
