Equal parts form of transportation, historical re-enactment and pleasure cruise, the Strawberry Train is a roundtrip jaunt from Madrid to Aranjuez. Passengers on the 1928 train are given local strawberries and attended by people in 19th century costumes as a way to commemorate the 1851 inauguration of Madrid's first railroad connection – to the Royal Palace in Aranjuez. The Strawberry Train typically runs on scheduled weekends in May, June, July, September and October and leaves from the 19th century Delicias station, now the Railroad Museum (Museo del Ferrocarril). Once the train arrives in Aranjuez you will have a few hours to sightsee before making the one-hour journey back to Madrid.
