The newest entry in the downtown hotel rooftop scene in Memphis, Twilight Sky Terrace is a super-chic space with commanding views of the Mississippi. This long-overdue redesign of the boutique Madison Hotel's formerly dinky rooftop lounge rivals anything we've seen in Nashville or Atlanta and even Chicago.

The Twilight will be open from dawn until the wee hours of the morning with libations and dining to fit the time of day or night. The refurbished rooftop space now includes comfy seating for lounging, sweeps of canvas for shielding the sun, and a fire pit for chilly evenings (as well as some cozy throws under which to snuggle).
A short list of specialty cocktails, plus an extensive beer and wine list, are the main attractions and there's a small menu for evening bites. Music will come from live bands and DJs, and there's even a big-screen TV for watching sporting events.
But during the daylight hours, there's plenty of reasons to go up on the roof, too; a limited breakfast will be served on weekends and we can see spending a quiet Sunday morning up here with caffeine and the paper, before the church crowd gets out.
There are binoculars available for taking a closer look at the river view...or whatever catches your eye.
