Shopping in Memphis improves every day, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of locals who have plenty to offer in the way of unique and creative products. Shopping local in Memphis is easy, thanks to a buzzing small business vibe. We've bought growlers of beer from local microbreweries, crafts from the independent makers market and hand-painted goodies for the tree at pop-up shops.

East Memphis has long been the upscale mecca for clothing, jewelry and home décor, with the Laurelwood and Regalia centers offering the high-end designer shops including Joseph, Oak Hall, Orvis and a variety of smaller boutiques and specialty shops.
The Cooper-Young and Overton Square neighborhoods in Midtown are full of local flavor, with a great collection of antiques stores and vintage shops, smaller boutiques with handmade items, an old-school bookstore and chocolate artisans and candy shops.
The South Main Historic District, just south of the downtown business district and Beale Street, has become a vibrant area for clothing, jewelry and art. It's a great place to go to browse the work of local artists and young designers, from photographers to furniture and clothing designers.
Memphis also has some of the best museum gift store shopping in the country. The National Ornamental Metal Museum's gift shop is our favorite museum store in the city, featuring the work of metal artisans; everything from yard sculptures to wine stoppers is available.
Stax – the Museum of American Soul Music – is another go-to spot, for anyone interested in the role of Memphis in American musical history.
The usual shopping suspects can be found in area malls, including Wolfchase Galleria and the Avenue at Carriage Crossing, both in the outlying suburbs.
Oak Court Mall, once the go-to for upscale East Memphians, has seen better days, but it still offers two major department stores and a smattering of national chains.
No matter what part of the city you're visiting, you never have to roam far to find the perfect Memphis-themed gift.
