Tastemaker Stephanie Jones Expands Brand to Germantown

me and mrs. jones offers vintage finds, paints at Germantown shop

By Sally Walker Davies,

The shopping scene in Germantown just got a little more hip, thanks to the opening of a second location of me and mrs. jones (lowercase is how she rolls) in a charming space in the Merchant's Row shopping center.

Stephanie Jones – the Memphis-based DYI diva of all things finely painted, stenciled and finished – opened the eastern outlet of her popular Cooper-Young store thanks to a high demand of the two paint lines she carries, as well as the high demand for her tastemaker mindset.

The two paint lines, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Miss Mustardseed's Milk Paint, are uniquely carried in this market by Jones, and it's clear they're here to stay as the two premier offerings in the artisan finishing paint world. What's more, Jones carries all manner of waxes, brushes, DIY helpers, instruction books (including her own) and even fabrics and candles.

But beyond the tools for DIY mavens, there's also a huge selection of home goods, curated by Jones from her many forays into the world of vintage finds; market trips; and visiting spots like Round Top and wholesalers of European fixtures, bits and baubles.

Jones has jumped into the custom candle line, as well, working with local candlemaker NAME to create a handful of Memphis- and Germantown-inspired scents sold exclusively at the shop.

The Germantown version of the shop is quite different from the Cooper-Young original in a few key ways.

First, the décor items; things that sell well in Midtown don't necessarily sell well in Germantown, and vice-versa.

Second, Jones offers no full-blown workshops at the Germantown location, preserving "The Coop," as Jones fondly calls it, as her primary teaching workshop and her own studio space. That doesn't mean there's no room for playing, however, as a paint bar offers the chance to do some sampling, and a number of project and product demos take place regularly.

And just like the original, Jones has staffed the new shop with a team of enthusiastic, experienced and uber-helpful associates. She also spends dedicated time each week at the location.

Shop hours and special events are posted regularly on the me and mrs. jones social media sites, and serious shoppers and DIYers should absolutely make a point to follow the feeds, as the best items Jones finds tend to get snapped up in flash-sale style.

And trust us, you'll be glad to have two locations at which to take advantage of Stephanie Jones' trendsetting taste.
