Don't Wait to Exhale: Spas in Memphis Are Ready to Pamper

Full-service spas in Memphis may be some of the busiest spas in the South, thanks to dedicated local clients who consider wellness – as well as great-looking nails and glowing skin – a priority.

Memphis is full of spas that focus on the client experience, creating a warm, relaxing atmosphere in which to let go of stress and everyday concerns, and indulge the body and the senses.  While full-service spas – those that offer full hair services, nail services, skincare and body treatments – are the norm, a number of medi-spas, or combination full-service and medi-spa spas, have opened in recent years. Medi-spas offer non-invasive medical spa treatments such as body contouring, laser skin tightening, vein therapy, and more. Eden Spa and Laser Center and Mona Esthetiques are two of the top medi-spas in Memphis. The long-time king of full-service spas in town is the family-run Gould’s Day Spa & Salons, with 11 locations around the city and suburbs, all with a different vibe but consistently excellent service. As with all salons, advance planning is critical for scoring the treatment you want while you’re in town.

From our list of the top 10 spas in Memphis, you are sure to find one which deliver the indulgence you’re seeking while visiting the Bluff City.

These services include tattoo removal, spider vein therapy, and treatments for broken capillaries and sun damage. They also offer body conturing packages with the Accent XL, an FDA-approved device that uses dual layer thermatherapy (radio frequency) technology. All of Sona's procedures are non-surgical.

With 11 salons / day spas scattered across the city, it only makes sense that the local company which employs 450-ish hair, makeup, nail, skin care and body treatment experts would open a school to train others in the business. The beauty of Gould's Academy (get it??) is that all those trainees need practice, so you can arrange for anything from a haircut to an up-do to a blow-out to nail services...the list seems endless. Pricing starts at $5 for a beard trim and haircuts start at $12, while nail services start at $12 and facials at $40. Across the hall from the main Academy is the Express Massage, our favorite spot of all.

Recommended for Spas because: $40 one-hour massages by licensed massage therapists. Yes, please!

Sally's expert tip: Every Wednesday at the Academy is Senior day, so those 65 and above receive an extra 10% off their bill. But be sure to tip on the full service price.
