McEwen's on Monroe has always been a go-to for Memphians, and we are ashamed to admit we have often overlooked it the last few years as the Memphis dining scene has exploded. But recent out-of-towners who we've referred have reminded us just how consistently great this spot is - whether for a drink of a private dinner in the wine cellar. The casually elegant eatery pairs Southern favorites with a to-die-for wine list, focusing fresh local ingredients and large cuts of meat. The waitstaff is thoroughly knowledgeable when it comes to pairing wines with entrees - perhaps the best in town at it.
