Dallas is a shopper's paradise, and you'll see locals and visitors alike hitting the area shopping malls on rainy days. While each suburb has a mall or two of its own, you can't miss one of two outstanding shopping malls in town - NorthPark Center and The Galleria. NorthPark is conveniently located just north of downtown and is a popular spot for fashionistas, as it has many high-end designer boutiques and Nordstroms, Barney's New York, Neiman Marcus, Macy's and Dillards. It also has several upscale restaurants and a wide variety of spas and salons, if you want to make a day of it. The Galleria Dallas is in North Dallas, and this huge shopping mall has an indoor ice-skating rink and three-stories of stores, including American Girl, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstroms. It also has a fabulous kids' play area in the atrium area of the third story.
Museums

If you want to spend your rainy day soaking up culture and knowledge, then head on over to the Arts District in Downtown Dallas. You can visit the internationally-acclaimed Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Opera House and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. If history is more your thing, then you cannot miss the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, the location of the Kennedy assassination. Other prominent Dallas museums include the African American Museum, Dallas Holocaust/Center for Education and Tolerance, and the Old Red Museum.

Visiting families who come to Dallas may be disappointed at first if their trips to the Dallas Zoo are washed out by the rain, but they'll be in for a treat at the Dallas World Aquarium. This indoor rainforest/zoological park features jaguars, monkeys, a 400,000-gallon shark tank and ancient Mayan performances. Kids can even participate in penguin and toucan feedings! If you're looking for something more low-key, Dallas has a wide variety of movie theaters, bowling alleys and indoor bounce house play places.
No matter what you end up doing, you'll have a great time. And, the Texan saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait a day - it'll change," is true in Dallas. So enjoy your rainy day while it lasts!
