In Dallas, patio season is one of the best times of the year, and Twilite Lounge in Deep Ellum features one of the most idyllic patios in town. It's the perfect place to relax with friends on a pleasant spring night in "Big D."
Whether you're into listening to great music, or you simply want to have a drink while star gazing, Twilite Lounge is the spot to hang out.
Opened by musicians Danny Balis and Jess Barr, Twilite Lounge aims to be a dive bar that's classy enough for a date night. It has lived up to expectations, and it's locally revered as having some of the best live performances in Dallas, such as Rhett Miller, Hamell on Trial, Pleasant Grove, Slobberbone and Jason Isbell.

From relaxing acoustic acts to upbeat comedians and jazz quartets, Twilite Lounge excels at creating a laid-back, fun vibe for its patrons. Other weekly events include live DJ events and karaoke. Visitors should check out the official website for the event schedule, but DJs usually play there on Tuesday nights, while Thursdays and Fridays are typically dedicated to jazz music and stand-up comedians.
While this New Orleans-inspired watering hole features great indoor decor – including a shotgun-style space, dimmed chandeliers, dark wood paneling and red leather booths – the real star of the show in the springtime is its French Quarter-style patio.
The courtyard patio features "Big Easy"-like street lamps, cozy tables with candles, ivy on the walls and an overall relaxing environment.
During the springtime and autumn seasons, bar patrons can enjoy Big Easy-style cocktails, like the Cucumber Fizz (Titos, soda and cucumber); the French 75 (Hendrick's lemon and champagne); Frozen Irish Coffee; Frozen Jack and Coke; and NOLA Pimm's (Pimm's, ginger ale and lemonade), while also enjoying the cool evening breeze.
More serious drinkers will enjoy the wide variety of whiskeys, while wine drinkers will appreciate the robust wine list. Twilite Lounge also offers an extensive beer list that features rotating seasonal ales.
The dress code at Twilite Lounge is casual, with weekends being a little more dressy casual. The lounge is open every day from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and patrons can find meter parking on the street or a wide variety of paid parking lots in the neighborhood.
If you're planning on being in Dallas and want to take a break from the hectic downtown scene, then make your way to this special bar in the heart of historic Deep Ellum on Elm Street.
