Shoppers and foodies unite - the Dallas Farmers Market is the place to be this summer! After undergoing recent changes to attract more families and gourmet chefs alike, this hot market also offers a ton of fun and entertainment!
While it was originally established in 1941 as a place for local farmers to sell their seasonal wares, the Dallas Farmers Market is now a year-round shopping spot that features some of the best local fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers and plants, and the world-renowned Park County peach, one of the juiciest, sweetest peaches in the entire Lone Star State. And the bonus is that all of these items are reasonably priced and fresh out of the garden!
After picking out some of Texas' finest produce - think okra, blueberries, tomatoes, onions, yellow squash, watermelons, eggplants, etc. - head on over to the onsite Gourmet Foods store, which features Texas honey, spices, gourmet cookies and Texas fudge. Then browse the handmade furniture, ceramics and jewelry that are offered there each week.
The Dallas Farmers Market offers culinary classes, and it has live music during the summertime weekends, so you'll be able to keep the little ones entertained while you're picking out the best items for your summer table.
Don't forget to bring your own shopping bags and cash!
