Spanning 1,200 ft (365 m) and reaching heights of 400 ft (122 m), the six-lane Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge connects Downtown Dallas to West Dallas/Oak Cliff. It is also referred to as "The Bridge to Ray's," and it was designed by Santiago Calatrava. Made of Italian steel, this cable-stayed bridge is one of downtown's most prominent structures. It was created to support the ongoing Trinity River Corridor Project that plans to add new business opportunities and recreational areas to Downtown Dallas.
