Every first Friday of the month, many locals and visitors come out to partake of the festivities, which happen largely along the hub of South Alamo Street, but extends further out in all directions. Many local restaurants, shops, art galleries, bars and other venues take part.
It's a great way to discover new local artists, sample some local eats and just enjoy the excitement and never-ending people-watching opportunities in Southtown.

Blue Star Arts Complex is perhaps the biggest venue that participates, as it's a destination for artists and art-lovers alike. Brick at Blue Star houses a plethora of funky wares and yummy eats, and it shouldn't be overlooked either.
After a leisurely stroll, Blue Star Brewery is a great place to grab a couple of craft beers and grass-fed burgers before heading out again. You'll often find live music along this part of the art walk.
Although a pub run has been one of the most popular aspects of this event for some time, First Friday will now include a wine walk, as well, expected to be a little more refined and relaxed than the pub run, which is truthfully more like a mad dash from bar to bar.
The inaugural First Friday Wine Walk took place on Oct. 2, 2015, and it included Nectar Wine Bar and Ale House, O'liva Restaurant, Haunt and SoHo. The walk's theme was masquerade, in recognition of Halloween.
Although participating bars and restaurants will likely rotate every few months in order to keep things fresh, it's likely you'll get the chance to enjoy the wine and edible delights at these destinations in the future, particularly Nectar, who started the event.
"Nectar wants to bring the San Antonio wine community together in a meaningful way. There are tons of great places to visit, and this is a great way to experience several of them at once in a friendly, safe environment," says Rob Stephens, owner of Nectar Wine Bar and Ale House.
In fact, the wine, craft cocktail and craft beer scene in San Antonio continues to expand with exceptional, upscale options opening up so quickly it's difficult even for wine enthusiasts to keep up!
The wine walk is a fun way to introduce yourself to a variety of San Antonio's finest and also make some unforgettable local friends!
Typically, the wine walk starts at Nectar at 6 p.m., where guests can enjoy extended happy hour prices. Each participating business offers something unique for the event.
O'liva, for example, offered guests a discounted olive oil tasting, along with complimentary wine samples.
