The Luxury, located in downtown San Antonio along the Riverwalk, is Andrew Weissman’s newest culinary baby. This funky rustic outdoor eatery has locals buzzing with excitement! The facilities, one for food and one for beverages, are made out of cargo containers.
After guests place their food order, they move onto the beverage container to place their drink order, which can be difficult since the Luxury sports a pretty impressive list of beer and wine selections. There are several giant picnic tables to choose from and most are conveniently covered by some beautiful shade trees.
The Luxury is the perfect place to lounge after a long day of sightseeing, not only because it offers a gorgeous view of the San Antonio Museum of Art which is located directly across the river, but simply because the food is so darn good.
Weissman is known in San Antonio as one of the best chefs in town with a palate and culinary creativity that could compete with just about any chef in the states. He also owns the Italian eatery, Il Sogno, and an upscale seafood restaurant at the Pearl called Sandbar.
As for The Luxury, the menu is small but utterly delightful. The pulled-pig sandwich is mouth-watering, slathered in grilled onions and red peppers, as is the crispy fish banh mi sandwich topped with dill, onion, cilantro, mint and, yes, even a sunny side up fried egg. The fries alone are worth the trip.
There’s plenty to share, but well, you may not want to. For dessert, dip into the chocolate pudding with salted caramel and Chantilly cream. Are you in heaven yet? Just wait. . .you will be!
