TBA is a fantastically unique concept, particularly for the San Antonio nightlife scene, which is rife with hole-in-the-wall beer joints that have Lonestar on tap. TBA stands for "To Be Announced," and in terms of this snazzy little snack bar and cocktail lounge, it means that there's no telling what exciting concoctions your bartender and Chef James Moore will be titillating you with on any given night.
The bar doesn't even sport a sign because, well, just because it's cooler for you to go in and find out on your own without some silly sign telling you what to expect. But we'll give you a hint or two.
TBA offers a full bar with about 40 types of beer and 20 wines (most of which can be ordered by the glass). What makes TBA special is their one-of-a-kind craft cocktails and small batches of infusions, such as bourbon infused with figs, cardamom, orange bitters and maple syrup. Or there's the FTD, a mango-infused vodka, Paula's orange and habanero bitters.
As for food, think elevated bar snacks such as charcuterie, pickled okra and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.
TBA offers happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday through Friday, with $5 house cocktails. Every first Friday of the month (a traditional arts walk night in downtown San Antonio), DJ Steven Lee Moya spins from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
This is one of those joints you would find yourself making your weekly hangout if you lived in San Antonio, but don't let that stop you!
