About Monte Vista

Monte Vista is an affluent, historic district nestled in the center of San Antonio, just a hop, skip and jump away from the excitement of downtown. Here you'll discover some of the city's most wonderful restaurants, bars and a few unusual and luxurious shops as well.
See & Do
While there's not a lot of major attractions within the Monte Vista neighborhood, if you have access to a vehicle, you might want to consider grabbing some coffee and driving up and down these beautiful tree-lined streets. Not far, however, you'll find the San Antonio Zoo, Brackenridge Park as well as the Witte Museum, a favorite for families with kids of all ages.
Eat
Again, this neighborhood is not teeming with restaurants, but the restaurants you do find here are exceptional. Be sure to grab a bite to eat for lunch at Barbaro, but if you're wanting a special, unforgettable dinner, make reservations at Mixtli, who serves only one table a night inside a railway car. For an incredible meal that's also affordable, try FOLC.
Party
Monte Vista is a sleepy neighborhood. Not much goes on here after dark besides people jogging and walking their dogs. Fortunately, there are a few neighborhood bars, such as Park Social and TBA, worth checking out that serve up some fine cocktails and premium brews. If you venture out just a bit, you'll also find some clubs for dancing and more serious nightlife entertainment!
Shop
There are just a few shops located in the Monte Vista neighborhood, but you won't be disappointed. In fact, if you're staying downtown and prefer to shop in unique stores, you won't regret heading to On Main Off Main to find quirky gifts and kitsch. For some upscale clothes shopping, head over to Kathleen Sommers, a retail store that sells clothes made by a local designer, or for more options, head north to Julian Gold.
